Dead Again
For the second “twice,” the IYAS Creative Writing Workshop of La Salle Bacolod rejected my fellowship application. The scorecard: boom-bust-bust-boom-bust!
Now, if this is a pattern bestowed by the gods for this idiot’s discernment, does it mean this idiot has to forget about UP-Mindanao’s Writing Workshop in October?
The idiot doesn’t know. But just in case, he’ll start praying this early that lightning won’t strike twice in Davao, the way it did in Bacolod.
That this eventual rejection could have been avoided had he not accepted the emailed invite of Dr. Gloria G. Fuentes to apply for this year’s IYAS is not this idiot’s qualm. Her failure to extend the same courtesy of informing him of his rejection is! But only because until now, this idiot doesn't know who made it. Maybe the press release was published in the philippine star, in which case,he wouldn't know because he only reads the inquirer.
but then again, this idiot wasn't informed last year, so why raise hell now? 'nuf said.

Yes, not a single word.
Who got in? How many, really? Did they postpone it? What? What? What? What's all this secrecy? Why? Why? Why?
Kahit na man lang sana inisip nila that we spent money on the postage -- not counting the emotional investment and the sleepless nights thinking about what words to put into those pages!!!!
Hay, naku. Just don't stop writing.
deans,
can u imagine if the story u sent to IYAS, which apparently they didn't like, will win u a palanca? di ba s/he who laughs last, laughs the loudest?
pero di ba sabi rin nila, there's no accounting for taste? dunno if that goes for fiction too.
drop by ka paminsan-minsan. :)
